The EP-PL/PF planetary gearbox — also known as a precision planetary reducer — is the broadest-coverage series in the Korea Ever-Power servo planetary gearbox catalogue. Engineered for general-purpose servo and stepper motor applications, it delivers a balance of accuracy, compactness, and value that makes it the default starting point for machine builders worldwide.
Four frame sizes — EP-PL/PF60, EP-PL/PF80, EP-PL/PF120, and EP-PL/PF160 — cover motor power from 50 W compact steppers to 7,500 W heavy-duty servo drives. One-stage, two-stage, and three-stage configurations provide 22 standard gear ratios from 3:1 through 512:1, all manufactured in our Ansan-si precision gear facility using 5-axis CNC hobbing and grinding processes.
Both round flange (EP-PL) and square flange (EP-PF) output variants share identical internal gear trains, bearings, and seals — the only difference is the output housing geometry. This lets you standardise on one gearbox platform across machines that require different mounting interfaces.

Round Flange vs Square Flange — Which Fits Your Machine?
Both the EP-PL and EP-PF planetary gearbox variants share identical gear trains, bearings, seals, and internal precision. The only difference between these two planetary reducer models is the output housing: EP-PL provides a round bolt-circle flange, while EP-PF provides a square flange. Your choice depends entirely on the mating interface of your machine frame or load mechanism.

Gear Ratio & Stage Configuration
The EP-PL/PF precision planetary gearbox is available in one-stage, two-stage, and three-stage configurations. Adding stages to the planetary reducer extends the available ratio range but reduces overall efficiency and increases axial length. The chart below illustrates the trade-offs across each planetary gearbox stage configuration.

As a general rule, single-stage planetary gearbox reductions (3:1 through 10:1) should be specified wherever the required ratio falls within this range, as they deliver the highest efficiency and lowest backlash accumulation. Two-stage planetary reducer units extend coverage to 64:1 with only a modest 2% efficiency reduction. Three-stage configurations are reserved for extreme reduction needs above 64:1, typically found in indexing mechanisms and very slow rotary actuators where a compact precision planetary gearbox is essential.
