Motor Assembly Guide

EP-FAB clamp-ring motor assembly — 8 steps
The EP-FAB uses a clamp-ring adapter plate system that allows field assembly without special tools. Follow this sequence to achieve the full rated torque and retain the precision grade after assembly:
- 1Verify motor-to-gearbox specification compatibility; clean all mating surfaces with lint-free cloth.
- 2Remove the adapter plate from the gearbox input; confirm pilot bore diameter matches motor shaft.
- 3Remove the motor shaft key if present; for keyed shafts, retain and install the flat key as required by the coupling type.
- 4If motor shaft diameter requires a bushing, install the correct reduction bushing for the frame size.
- 5Insert motor shaft into adapter bore; hand-tighten the 4 adapter disc screws in a cross pattern (1–3–2–4).
- 6Torque adapter screws to the Table 1 values with a ×5% safety margin. For EP-FAB090 (shaft ≤19 mm): M5×0.8P×14L screw, 4 mm hex key, 9.8 Nm.
- 7Mount the motor and gearbox assembly vertically; torque the motor clamping screws to the Table 2 values in a cross pattern.
- 8Install and tighten the stop pin to the specified torque. Run a no-load test at rated speed before applying load.
Manufacturing & Quality Assurance

Ring gear and planet gears are 5-axis CNC profile-ground to DIN 5 accuracy class. This is the same gear accuracy class specified in European servo gearboxes at twice the price.
Every housing bore alignment and parallelism is checked on a Coordinate Measuring Machine. Ensures the planet carrier runs true and backlash is consistent across the rated load range.
Every EP-FAB unit runs a noise and vibration test on a closed-loop servo dynamometer at rated load — not just no-load. Units exceeding ≤56–70 dB(A) limits are rejected before boxing.
Individual backlash measurement is performed on every unit using a calibrated torque arm. The measured grade (P0/P1/P2) is stamped on the nameplate before shipment.
Pneumatic pressure is applied to all dynamic seal interfaces. Any unit that shows pressure decay over the 60-second test window is rejected and resealed.
Units ship with individual test report, installation manual, and motor adapter torque table. Packaging uses anti-corrosion film and impact-absorbing foam tailored to each frame size.
